I am a PhD Candidate at the University of Kentucky.
I am interested in reactions from both political institutions and the mass public in response to Supreme Court behavior. With a more polarized Court and the public being increasingly aware of the Court's decisions, updating this understanding is timely and has key policy considerations. My interest stems from my observation of the changing role of the Court in the mind of partisans over the last seven years. While many passively considered the Court as a passive and legal minded institution, more outwardly political decisions and appointments have shifted institutional perceptions.
While research and its associated challenges are both things I enjoy, my true passion and the reason I pursued academia was teaching. I strive to foster discussion to create a teaching environment that is energetic, student-focused, and in service of the broader class narrative. I also enjoy creating innovations in course design for example, implementing content based on future career goals.
When I am not working on my research or improving my teaching, I enjoy spending time with my wife, Cate. Whenever I get the chance, I enjoy competing in Magic: The Gathering or playing the bass guitar.
